Living in a dream world.
When I'm not wrangling butterflies or hopping clouds you might still find me in my fantasy world of fairies and ladybugs. That's where I get my best ideas! For the most part, though, my graphic design job, illustration goals and family keep me from floating away into the purple sky.
Before there was art there was music.
I began college as a voice major. A semester and a half later I decided that I preferred to stand behind my art rather than in front of a crowd. So I changed my major to studio art and graduated with my B.S. from Florida State University in 2000. Now, many years later, I've dusted off my guitar and started singing again. I play music with some friends but we keep a pretty low profile. You can get a little taste of what we sound like here.
Chalk it up.
Other than digital art, my favorite medium to work with are soft pastels. Once a year I pack my pastels and go downtown for the annual sidewalk drawing contest. I have been doing this for the past seven years. Some of my sidewalk chalk drawings inspire me to go home and create more complete works of art.
Everyday life.
Art and design aside, I enjoy being at home with my daughter Maia, our cat Blackbelly and our hamster Harrold. We live in a sweet little house in a very friendly neighborhood where pet parades and trick-or-treaters fill the streets (but not at the same time) and lemonade stands are on every corner (it seems so during the summertime, anyway). We have a big front porch where we like to sit and watch the lively activity of the neighborhood. When it's not too windy, too wet, too cold or too hot, Maia and I sit on the porch together while we draw and paint and let the neighborhood watch us.
